Arnold Ash Series – July Review

Arnold Ash Series July Highlights

As the weather continues to heat up, so does the SPORTSvox Arnold Ash Series. Edging towards the half way stage, this was the first of two series events in July.

Rowley Continues the Trend of First Time Winners

Our theme of first time winners continued with Brad Rowley taking top spot in a closely run Individual event.
In the tricky windy conditions Brad managed 39 points to win by one from Richard Waterhouse.

Waterhouse ran out of steam on the last couple to finish with a creditable 38 points. Finishing  back in third on countback with 37 points came the consistent Steve Dodd.

With three rounds completed the race for the overall Arnold Ash Series Leaderboard, Rowley takes the lead, as we head into the  July Bonus Round.

Team Rubin Sweep Past the Competition

Richard Waterhouse managed to gain revenge in the team event, forming part of the winning Team, captained by Fredrik Rubin. Alongside Rubin and Waterhouse were Tom Nicholls, Lee Cope. They finished with 91 points, which put them three clear of their nearest rivals.

Second place belonged to Team Hillblom on 88 points. The team made up of captain Alex Hillblom, Neil Bergin, Kevin Donovan and the reformed Dave Hansen.
Trailing back in third came 1st time entry Team Borg with 84 points. Andy Borg, playing his first series event was partnered by Gernot Schmid, Gary Baines and overall winner Brad Rowley.

Simpson becomes ‘Internet Viking’

Some familiar faces took the spot prizes during the day with the highlight coming in the Internet Vikings Challenge on the 18th hole. Out in the first group, Neill Simpson managed a two putt birdie, securing the closest to the pin in two prize.

In the tricky conditions the lower handicap players dominated the challenges in this event. The Hero Gaming nearest the pin on the 6th was won by Andy Borg, the first of many I’m sure.

Omega Systems saw their prize on the 7th hole go to Steve Dodd, who continues to rack up his season winnings.

Henry Redknapp hit a monster drive down the 8th fairway to take the first Enteractive Long Drive and Fredrik Rubin emulated Redknapp with his effort on the 15th hole.

The final nearest the pin prize, sponsored by GiG was taken down by one of our regulars Peter Cotton who stuck it close on the 17th.

Final Chance to Qualify for the Enteractive Cup

All players now move on to the Arnold Ash Series – Bonus Round to be played throughout July. This is the final chance to accrue points towards the Enteractive Cup being played at the end of August. All leaderboard points are contributing towards the overall Arnold Ash Series Leaderboard.

All proceeds from the Bonus round will go towards supporting our local charity the Brain Foundation. Try and get out on the course in July, earn some points and support a good cause in the process.

Its been a busy few weeks! There is plenty more golfing action coming up and thanks once again to our sponsors for their continued support.
