Arnold Ash Series – May Review
Arnold Ash Series Gets Underway
The season finally kicked off on Monday 31st of May with 40 players looking to start well. With various delays since March due to COVID restrictions, it was evident that everyone was itching to play in this rearranged event.
With Arnold Ash once again being our headline sponsor for the season, there will be 6 events making up the overall series. The first four of these events will act as qualification for the Enteractive Cup in August
Lehtiniemi Blows Field Away in First Event
In the Individual event, Harri Lehtiniemi made a mockery of the field winning by 6 points with total of 48, -12 under his proposed handicap. Yes -12 you did read it right and the knives are out for the next event already.
Runner Up on count back was Ryan Kerr with 42 points, securing his best placed finish and after playing 566 rounds of golf so far this year already it came as no surprise to anyone. Just behind Ryan, loosing out on count back came Henry Redknapp and for anyone that saw him on the first tee, it was a miracle that he got round let alone have a great score to boot.
Team Heikkila Secure The Win
The team event was a closer encounter, with several teams fighting it out for overall supremacy. After some final handicap adjustments kicking in, it was Team Heikkila, consisting of Ilkka Heikkila, John Finneghan, Ryan Kerr and Kirmo Kolehmainen who managed to hold on with a total score of -25 under on the day.
Just behind them on -24 came Team Featherstone, made up of Andy Featherstone, Harri Lehtiniemi, Ben Johnson and Peter Cotton. Whilst in Third place on -21 under came Team Fagerlund with Henrik Fagerlund, Anne MacDonald, Dennis Baltzis and Mikka Mustonen.
New Sponsors and Hole in One………at least nearly
With Incentive Games coming on board as our scoring partner for this season, we were nearly celebrating our first Hole in One from the society when Erik Thoren put it to 11 inches on the 17th Hole to secure the Nearest the Pin prize courtesy of GiG.
Gary Baines took the first prize of the day with nearest the pin on the 6th hole sponsored by a returning partner Hero Gaming. Ross Parkhill with a fine shot on the 7th walked away with the nearest the pin sponsored by Omega Systems who joined us full time this year.
Some fine performances in the Enteractive Long Drive contests saw Henrik Fagerlund surpass everyone on the 8th hole and Mikka Mustonen blew the field away with his drive down the 15th.
And Finally a new competition at the final hole sponsored by our website partners Internet Vikings saw Andy Featherstone knock it to 5 feet in two shots at the par 4 18th.
Season In Full Swing
With players earning qualification points at each event towards the Arnold Ash Series Leaderboard each performance counts now as the events come thick and fast.
The Arnold Ash Series – June will take place on Monday the 21st and the rest of the fixtures can be seen on the schedule. It promises to be a great few months of action and many opportunities to get involved.
Once again a big shout out to all our sponsors and if you would like to order any of the items you play with or see around the course then please reach out to myself or our new merchandise partners for this year Fluid Branding.
