Germany v Sweden Preview
If you were asked to pick a team to go and win a game when its required, who would you pick? If you are like me, you would positively pick Germany, the current World Champions over the years have always found a way to get to the latter stages of the World Cup.
The squad needs no introduction, brimming with quality in every area and although they got rocked by an inspired performance by Mexico, I fully expect them to make light work of Sweden.
Germany managed 26 shots on goal against Mexico, but did lack a little bit of penetration in the final third. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go with a slightly more attacking line up against Sweden, with maybe Khedira the man to sit this one out.
If Germany are to dominate Sweden and create more clear cut chances, I fully expect Mezut Ozil to be at the heart of it. A seasoned performer in the Premier League Assist charts he needs to shine and at around 2/1 with UNIBET to give an assist in this game, I think its a cracking price.
Sweden have given themselves a chance to qualify from Group F by beating South Korea in their first game. They know however, that with Mexico on three points already they probably need to take something from this game.
That was Sweden’s first International goal in 402 minutes and without the mercurial Zlatan, I just can’t see them troubling a Germany side, that will surely be tighter defensively in this match. I don’t believe Sweden have the pace or finishing ability of Mexico, who constantly cut through Germany.
I have Sweden playing for a point and if they get anything else from a free kick or a corner then that’s a bonus. Therefore, I expect Germany to dominate possession and for them to secure over 63.5% of possession at around EVENS with UNIBET I don’t think you will go far wrong.
Germany are the ultimate professionals and I expect just that from this performance. Sweden will make it tough but I see only one team coming away with three points from this one and Germany kick starting their World Cup challenge.
The stand out bet for me in this match is for Germany to be the only team to score, at 11/8 with William Hill it would be my weekend banker.
I just can’t see Sweden giving Germany too many problems. There is a slight caveat though, as there is a rumor that Mats Hummels is out and will not play against Sweden. This will make it harder but I still expect Germany to have enough experience in their side to keep their hopes alive.
Good luck with your selections
