Liverpool getting transfer business done

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has wasted little time bolstering his team following their Champions League Final loss to Real Madrid. With Naby Keita already signed from Leipzig for £52.75m and Brazilian   Fabinho joining from Monaco for a fee thought to be around £43.7m, it appears the spending won’t stop there.

Reports suggest that Liverpool are ready to test the resolve of Roma and their financial woes by offering £60 million for their keeper Alisson. Roma were punished by UEFA in 2015 after reporting losses of over £50 million and as a result had sanctions imposed on them for three years.

In order to balance the books Liverpool secured Salah for £36.9 million from the Italian club and hope to do the same with their keeper.

Nabil Fekir could be the fourth signing by Liverpool before the World Cup begins. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is currently preparing for Russia 2018 with the French squad, and will cost in excess of £53m from Lyon.

New signing Fabinho wasted little time in calling the talented Frenchman to put pen to paper and join him at the Anfield club. One has to say that if Fekir does join, it would represent some excellent business for Klopp, ahead of the new season.

Fekir has 45 goals in 155 matches for Lyon, 18 of those this season while he also provided 8 assists, an impressive return for a midfielder.

Liverpool’s defence already looks tighter since the signing of Virgil Van Dijk, however the introduction of Naby Keita and Fabinho will not only be of great support to the back 4, but provide a superbly attacking dynamic to feed into the likes of Fekir, Mane, Firmino and Salah!

As for Fabinho, he emerged as one of Monaco’s most exciting young talents during their title winning 2016/17 campaign, and was linked to both Manchester clubs and Arsenal recently under new manager Unai Emery.

He has a good presence at 6ft 2in and will provide good protection in front of the back four. He was top six for total passes last season and ranked top three in tackles made.

This is a talent that will showcase his ability in defence and going forward. Think of the sort of role Patrick Viera played during Arsenal’s glory days! His height will also give Liverpool an additional threat in the box from set pieces.

It appears Klopp has got his hands on a very good young player here, and although he has four caps for his country he will not feature in the World Cup. Another bonus for Klopp, as it gives him a full preseason to work closely with the club’s new investment.

If Liverpool can pull of their remaining two targets Alisson and Fekir, it will go a long way to helping the fans forget the Champions League heartbreak and focus on the new campaign and a chance of challenging for the title.
