Real Madrid willing to pay £307m for Neymar this transfer window

Real Madrid are so desperate to sign Neymar this summer that they are willing to pay an extra £44m to land him.

The Brazilian only joined PSG a year ago for a then world record fee of £198m, however Real president Florentino Perez is determined to bring the former Barcelona player to the Santiago Bernabeu for the start of the season, according to reports.

Neymar’s release clause stands at £307m, although it is believed there is a clause in his contract that will see that figure drop to £263m from September 1st of this year, an amount that Real are prepared to ignore in their desire to land the player.

Real have a few issues to resolve, mainly their pursuit to find a replacement for Zidane who resigned after winning his third consecutive Champions League. Massimiliano Allegri, Antonio Conte, Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino are all said to have turned down the chance to succeed the Frenchman, with the club still insisting they will have someone in place before the World Cup starts.

Other issues that need to be addressed before any deal can be done with Neymar, concerns the future of both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bale was clearly upset at the end of the Champions League Final when he stressed if he doesn’t get a regular football at Real he will have to consider his future elsewhere. The problem is that he is at the top of his game and few clubs would be able to afford him, while on the other hand why would they want to get rid of him?

Ronaldo still has three-years left to run on his current deal, although his representatives have been trying to negotiate his salary which stands at £22m a season, apparently £10m less than both Messi and Neymar. Needless to say the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is expecting to be on the same money as the other two.

It seems Real Madrid have plenty of business to nail down over the transfer window and if they manage to sign Neymar and keep hold of Ronaldo and Bale, surely no one can stop them marching onto a fourth consecutive Champions League title!
