Arnold Ash Series – June Review
Arnold Ash Series June Highlights
With the SPORTSvox Arnold Ash Series in full swing now, the events are coming thick and fast. It was lovely to see some new winners this time around across the many different prizes on offer. It was our oldest competitor ( we think ) who managed to secure his first win in the Arnold Ash Series events
Hansen Defies Age To Secure First Tour Win
With the wind blowing and the pins tough, it was left to the canny older generation to rise to the top this time. I have heard he hit every ball two foot off the ground, but I was very pleased to see Dave Hansen take this edition of the series. His 40 points proved to be decisive in what were very hot and windy conditions.
Runner Up, losing out on count back on 40 points was James Kinsey for whom it was also his best finish in the series. Coming back in 20 points for a total of 38 overall secured Ross Parkhill 3rd position and more points on the Arnold Ash Series Leaderboard.
Team Haig Collect Main Prize
The Team event was a cracking affair with many teams in with a shout throughout the afternoon. With Dave Hansen leading the way. The remaining players of Alex Haig, Martin Collins and Ryan Kerr dove tailed very well to ensure Team Haig managed 92 points (-20).
Leading the way for a long time were Team Simpson, consisting of Neill Simpson, Karl Andersson, Andy Foster and Anne MacDonald. A tentative finish to their challenge however left them in second place on 90 points (-18).
Team Simpson just managed to edge out the efforts of Team Schmid who competed until dusk but just failed to deliver their final charge. The consistent Ross Parkhill, Erik Thoren, Dave Barry and captained by Gernot Schmid also ended on 90 points (-18).
‘Deadeye’ Baines Collects Prize Again
Gary ‘Deadeye’ Baines took the Hero Gaming nearest the pin on the 6th hole again. Gary is pretty much making this hole his own this year. New recruit Tom Nicholls enjoyed the 7th and collected the nearest the pin sponsored by Omega Systems.
It was a pleasure to personally witness the longest drive on the 8th by playing partner Andy Foster. An immense hit, fully worthy of taking the prize. The last drive of the day for Erik Thorn secured him the Enteractive Longest drive title at the 15th.
Steve Dodd finished his round off in style. Hitting a great shot into the 17th earned him the GiG nearest the Pin. He followed that up by hitting it to within 3 feet at the last hole. This enabled Steve to take down the newly formed ‘Internet Viking’ prize for closest in two at the 18th.
New Bonus Tournament Introduced
After two events we are a little closer to see who is challenging for season honours on the Arnold Ash Series Leaderboard. Each performance counts now as the events come thick and fast.
The Arnold Ash Series – July will take place on Monday the 5th of July. This will be the last planned event before the summer and qualification for the Enteractive Cup.
We have also added another event that can be played throughout the month of July – The SPORTSvox Arnold Ash Bonus Round.
In this tournament you will have the chance to play at your leisure with whomever you want across the month of July. All entries will go towards supporting a local charity specialising in providing sporting opportunities to children with disabilities.
Once again a big shout out to all our sponsors and if you would like to order any of the items you play with or see around the course then please reach out to myself or our new merchandise partners for this year Fluid Branding.
