Enteractive Cup Day 2 Review

Super Saturday certainly brought the best out of a lot of players with some outstanding Golf being played. In true matchplay style Team EU looked to have the upper hand, but it was the ROW side who came out on top once again. Taking the Fourballs by the same scoreline as Friday 3 1/2 to 2 1/2, they take a 7 – 5 overall lead heading into the Sunday singles.

‘Tin Cup’ Schmid Secures Win for ROW

There was certainly no ruffling of any ‘feathers’ in the first match out of the day. Captain Gernot Schmid and last year’s play off hero Andy ‘Feathers’ Featherstone held off the challenge of Dennis Baltzis and Tero Veinonen. They kicked off another good day for the ROW side with a 3&2 victory.

Unfortunately the momentum could not be carried through in Match 2 for Team ROW as their Scottish contingent again succumb to a strong EU pair. Even the copious amounts of whiskey the night before could not stop Collins and Kerr going down 2&1 against Tony Kjaldstrom and John Finnighan.

‘The Tank and Semi Pro’ Continue Strong Performance

Toni ‘The Tank’ Westerholm and Tore ‘Semi Pro’ Lindtveit look unbeatable on current form. Following on from thrashing the Scottish pair on Friday, they saw off Parkhill and Robertson 2&1 in a well fought encounter. All square with 3 to play the ‘King of Birgu’ couldn’t pull out the magic again like Friday. Two quick birdies on the 16th and 17th saw the EU pair come through unscathed.

Honours were shared in Match 4, with both teams having opportunities to win down the last neither side could sink their birdie puts to take the point. Team ROW of Waterhouse and Dodd will feel they let this one slip after being three up after 12 holes. A great fight back by Bergin and Andersson however saw them nearly pinch the spoils getting to 1up through the 16th. A point for both sides was probably a good result overall.

The Stewards Are Out After Foster!
Day 2 Fourball Results

In the game of the day it was Team ROW’s Andy Foster who stole the show with a fantastic display of Golf. Playing off 24 ( not for long ) ‘Fozzy’ seems destined for greater things after making 4 net eagles in 8 holes. You would think with that sort of play the match would be short lived. However Team EU pairing of Andy ‘The Pro’ Borg and Harri Lehtiniemi themselves were 10 under par through 16 holes.

However it was Foster’s day, supported on occasions by his able deputy Simpson. they eventually ran out 3&2 winners after being 14 under when the match finished!

Bains and Cotton Invincible

In the final match of the day the Team ROW pairing of Baines and Cotton look unbeatable as they once again swept past the opposition. Playing against Team EU Captain Alex ‘LFG’ Hillblom and ‘Steady Eddy’ Henrik Fagerlund, they cruised to a 6&5 victory to secure a lead for Team ROW heading into the Sunday Singles.

Team EU need to fire in the Singles

Heading in to Sunday Team ROW have a slender lead 7 – 5 and will be looking to retain the trophy they won last year. The Singles draw threw up some fantastic match ups and as we know anything can happen in Singles matchplay.

Sunday Singles Matches

Its definitely all to play for and Team EU will be looking for a strong start from their top order. In one of the games of the day Andy Featherstone takes on Tore Lindtveit and Captain Alex Hillblom will be looking to get one over Steve Dodd.

Team ROW have quality spread throughout the team and if it comes down to it they have the trusty Scots to bring the team home. If they don’t come through on the Golf they will certainly win something in the bar afterwards.

Another great day in store for everyone and who know’s another play off may well be on the cards come Sunday evening!
